Ramzi Fawaz retired in November 2019 from Newmont Goldcorp Mining Corporation where he served as the Senior Vice President of Projects since 2011. He was responsible for the development and execution of Newmont’s global major gold & copper projects, including the Akyem Project in Ghana, the Conga Project in Peru, the Merian Project in Suriname, the Tanami Expansion Project in Australia, and the Phoenix Copper Leach, Turf Ventilation Shaft, and Long Canyon projects in Nevada.
Prior to joining Newmont, Ramzi served as Senior Vice President Operations of Atomic Energy Canada Ltd. and Vice President of Royal Dutch Shell. Ramzi has vast experience in international project development. Throughout his career, Ramzi has engaged extensively with various stakeholders related to major development projects, including executive management, boards of directors, shareholders, contractors, utilities and various government agencies. During his working career, Ramzi was also actively involved in providing coaching and training, in project management, to numerous members of Newmont Goldcorp and Royal Dutch Shell staff. Ramzi has a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and a Master’s degree in power engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
